These interactive data maps provide specific geographic details about where customer data is stored in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, and Project Service Automation.
Specifically, they provide information regarding the locations of our datacenters throughout the world for these Dynamics 365 services.

Datacenters
A datacenter is where the application software and customer data running on the software are located. For all customers located in a geo, picking a geo from the drop down box displays the locations of their datacenters and corresponding services. Microsoft replicates customer data in at least two datacenters at any given time to protect against failover.If a datacenter ceases functioning for any reason, customer data is not lost as the application software and customer data running on that application software are also available from a second or possibly third datacenter. Customers might not be notified when failover occurs. Depending on the particular service, failover may not result in any service interruption. Customers should assume that at any given time their customer data may be processed in either one or more of the datacenters in the geo.
* If a customer accesses the online services portal from a geo other than their own, then all viewed web pages will be hosted in that geo's datacenter.
** Long-standing online customer data is being migrated to new datacenters in accordance with these data maps however until the data migration is complete, long-standing customer data may be stored in other regional datacenters than is listed here.
*** Azure Active Directory mentioned in the above data maps are instances of Azure Active Directory that hold directory data. A copy of directory data also exists in the relevant datacenters housing the Dynamics 365 services.

Service Logs
Dynamics 365 have been designed to use service logs, rather than direct access to customer data, for purposes of providing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the online services. Service logs record errors and performance issues, and may contain limited customer data such as email addresses, subject lines of emails, file names, and site URLs to identify the source of the error or performance issue being recorded. Service logs do not contain customer-authored data such as customer documents, email message bodies or attachments, website content, or IM/voice conversations. Service logs that contain customer data are stored in the data centers identified above. Occasionally, access is required from another location to address a specific service issue. ]]>

Does Dynamics 365 disclose information about where data is stored?
Yes. Microsoft has a regionalized datacenter strategy. The customer's country or geo, which the customer's administrator inputs during the initial setup of the services, determines the primary storage location for that customer's data.]]>
Where might customer data be transferred to, processed, and/or stored while it is within the services?
Please see the data map for your geo.
Additionally, certain types of customer data (specifically the application name, application description, and application logo) will be stored globally, rather than in the primary storage geo.

Why would Microsoft move data to a different geo from my own?
The requirements of providing the services may mean that some data is moved to or accessed by Microsoft personnel or subcontractors outside the primary storage geo.For instance, to address latency, routing data may need to be copied to different data centers in different geos. In addition, personnel who have the most technical expertise to troubleshoot specific service issues may be located in locations other than the primary location, and they may require access to systems or data for purposes of resolving an issue.

Will Microsoft give notice when customer data is transferred to a new country?
Yes. If we expand the geo where your data is stored into a new country, we will provide 1 month advance notice of the change and Microsoft will give notice if and when Microsoft changes the information about Dynamics 365 data maps referenced in the table above. This notice will be provided to administrators who have checked the "compliance notifications" option in the My Profile part of the online services portal.
